Avoid Losing Deductible Gift Recipient Status - DGR
NFP’s and charities must meet specific criteria, or apply for an extension, before the end of the December 2022 to receive crucial DGR status.
This means that any non-government not-for-profit organisation will have to be registered as a charity with the ACNC to be endorsed as a DGR.
No further action is required for organisations that are already registered as a charity with the ACNC.
Check your organisation meets the requirements of DGR’s.
DGRs already endorsed on 14 December 2021, as well as certain applicants with a DGR application pending, were eligible for transitional arrangements. Transitional arrangements provided additional time to meet the new requirements and included:
Automatic 12-month general transition period, giving DGRs until 14 December 2022 to become a registered charity.
Additional 3-year extension in limited circumstances.
